Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” ~ Mark 6:31, NIV
Spring offers us a time of renewal and hope, especially in light of the Easter message we in ministry proclaim with more intensity this time of year. I know I often speak of breaking away in the Fall as I attend my annual retreat. But it is also a good reminder now that we need to pull away for refreshment to be our best in the service of the King. I will be leaving the persistent cold of the Midwest for some special time away on the West Coast with loved ones, but our renewal doesn’t have to make such a major journey. How about a few more walks in solitude this week or quiet time unplugged from electronics? Whatever it is, I encourage you as leader to once again “come apart before you come apart”. And after you do, may you burst forth in Christ’s power with the same beauty as the flowers that have rested for a season under the snow.
